This is my temporary desk at my parents’ home. I’m living with them at the moment because I just finished 14 months of travelling, which was an amazing experience. I came back at the end of January and it was super cold, -2 degrees Celsius, which was quite a shock after being in 30-degree weather.
Anyway, back to my desk. Since I only had my laptop with me during my travels, I really wanted a proper desk when I returned. I’m staying at my parents’ home for February because we can’t move into our new condo until March, so I had to be creative and keep things minimal since I’ll have to move again at the end of February.
Let’s get into it. My main machine is the base model of the 16-inch Macbook Pro M1 Pro, with 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM. I chose this storage capacity because I mainly work on external hard drives.
I’m extending my setup with a 4K 27-inch LG monitor I already had from 2019. It made my workflow better and easier, and I’m thinking of adding the LG DualUp, but I’m not sure yet.
Everything is set up on a simple black IKEA table that cost around CHF 40.00. It’s not height-adjustable, but it does the job and looks minimalistic. My chair is also from IKEA, but I’ll exchange it for a new one once we move into our new condo.
For lighting, I just bought the Xiaomi Light Bar that sits on top of my LG screen. I can adjust the strength of the light and its warmth, which is perfect for creating the right ambiance. By the way, I prefer it in a warm color.
Last but not least, there’s my PS5. I got it for my birthday on January 20th and I love to play some Warzone from time to time, even though I’m not very good at it.
I haven’t tidied up all my cables yet, but I definitely will when I set up my and my fiancé’s office.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll drop an update once I set up the new office!
